# 3 Tips on Showing Others You Appreciate Them

We get it. Everyone gets busy, and it can be easy to let things slip off your radar. But showing your appreciation for those around you shouldn’t be one of those things.  

For many people, time in quarantine taught them to value their social connections even more. When you only see your loved ones through a computer screen, you quickly realize how important it is to stay connected and show your friends and family how much they mean to you.  

Appreciation helps build strong relationships, both professional and personal. Here are a few simple tips for how to show someone you appreciate them every day.  

## **Listening**

And we mean really listening. That means not just listening to respond or listening to argue but listening to understand.  

Allow your friends to vent their feelings or rant about their stresses. Listen to loved ones without judgment. Don’t just pretend to listen, do it. Putting effort into listening and understanding shows the speaker that you care about and value what they have to say.  

If you’re speaking with clients, practice attentive listening so you can better understand not only their needs, but what makes them tick as individuals. ## **Showing up**

Even something as seemingly small as showing up late can tell others that you don’t value their time as much as your own, and that you aren’t someone they can rely on.
